Wereld Milieu dag - aandacht voor een beter milieu
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 and taking place on June 5 each year, World Environment Day seeks to stimulate attention and awareness to matters concerning the environment. This year, it also marks the commencement of the annual Olympus Environmental Awareness Month. Now in its 32nd year, it represents a month-long company campaign to highlight environment-related issues.

A major theme of this year’s campaign in Europe is the collection and recycling of spent batteries. The merits of environmentally-friendly battery disposal will thereby be a subject all Olympus staff will learn more about. In cooperation with GRS – a foundation based in Germany that specialises in responsible battery disposal and recycling – special collection points for used batteries will also be set up.
